New Garritan Libraries for Old Finale Files

Just bought a new Garritan library? Want to liven up older scores with your new sounds? You’re in luck because Finale 2012 makes this easier than ever!

To make the change, open the older score in Finale 2012.

Look in the MIDI/Audio Menu and ensure that Play Finale through VST or AU is checked. Then select Sound Map Priority*, move the new Garritan library to the top of the list, and click OK. Then go to MIDI/Audio Menu and select Re-assign Playback Sounds. Done.

Want to fine-tune the results? Go to Window Menu > Score Manager to adjust instruments individually.

*If you don’t see your new library in the Sound Map Priority list, you may not have the needed Finale support files installed. No worry, you can always find them here.
