How to get there

Click the Smart Shape tool .

What it does

This resizable, movable, reshapable palette contains icons representing slurs, crescendo hairpins, solid lines - all intelligent, self-stretching Smart Shapes.

• [Title bar]. When displayed as a floating palette, drag the strip – at the top of the palette–to move the palette.

• [Sizable frame]. This border functions like any sizable frame in a OS X program.

• [Drag bar]. When displayed as a floating palette, drag the gray strip to move the palette.

• [Close box]. When displayed as a floating palette, click the x to hide the palette. (Choosing Smart Shape palette from the Window menu—so that the check mark disappears—serves the same purpose.)

• Slur tool. Double-click by the first note and drag to the last note to draw a slur.

• Decrescendo tool • Crescendo tool. Double-click and drag to the right to draw a crescendo or decrescendo (hairpin).

• Line tool. Double-click and drag to draw a solid line. Hold down shift while dragging to create a straight vertical or horizontal line.

• Glissando tool. Double-click by the first note and drag to the last note to draw a glissando.
