FAQs about Finale Showcase and NotePad

Why can't I find my music I just posted?
In order to help us remain in compliance with copyright law, there will now be a brief delay (usually less than 24 hours) between the time at which files are uploaded and when they are released, allowing us to review submissions to the Finale Showcase.

Can you suggest any way I could create a visual preview of files people might want to download from my personal web site?
Owners of Finale 2004-2007 for Mac OS X can easily create PDF files that can be used as web previews. Windows users interested in creating PDF files have a number of resources available to them, including free PDF drivers available at www.pdf995.com and www.cutepdf.com, Adobe Acrobat Distiller, or services which will convert their Finale files to PDF files.

Can you suggest any way I could create an audio preview of files people might want to download from my personal web site?
Owners of Finale 2004-2007 can easily create audio files, that could be used as web previews, by choosing "Save As Audio File" from Save Special section in the File Menu. Alternately Finale can also generate MIDI files.

Can you select an Instrument for Solo Part with Finale NotePad?
Yes it is possible. You could copy music into a new document with different instrumentation.

Can you select Octave for Solo Part in Finale NotePad?
It is possible using NotePad's new Mass Edit transposition Metatools. To do so, select the Mass Edit tool, select the music you wish to change, and press the 8 key to transpose up an octave or 9 to transpose down. (Also note that keys 6 and 7 transpose up or down a diatonic step.)
