Engraver Slurs
Finale’s Engraver slurs, introduced with Finale 2002, revolutionized music notation software with their ability to automatically snap to avoid collisions – even after transpositions that cause stems to flip.

New in Finale 2010
Finale has always provided the highest resolution for world class printout, but on-screen images have been less smooth. Now Windows users join their Macintosh counterparts with anti-aliasing for smoother on-screen appearance of slurs, hairpins, and brackets for more accurate on-screen representation of your final output.

We’ve also fine-tuned engraver slurs to ensure that edits made at high view percentages always produce the same results when viewed at 100% and when printed – and that on-screen appearance is consistently representative of high-resolution output so there are no surprises at the printer.

Document Styles
Create the look you want with personal Document Styles
Choose from a wide variety of styles or create your own to instantly personalize the appearance
of new documents. Simply select a Document Style on the first screen of the
Set-up Wizard to get
the visual results you want, and save time.

Documents Styles control:
- text and music fonts
- text inserts
- all libraries (including expressions, articulations, document settings, etc…)
- graphics (a company logo, for example)
- page size and orientation
- page layout
- measure numbering and much more…
Create Your Own
It’s easy to create your own Document Styles. Just copy a completed Finale
file (including notes) into the Document Styles folder and its settings
become the basis for a new Document Style. Finale automatically knows what
items pertain to the style, and which, like notes, do not. The next time
you visit the Set-up Wizard you’ll be able to select your new Document Style.

FinaleScript 2.0
Script with ease.
FinaleScript® is Finale’s exclusive, easy-to-use scripting language that saves time by allowing you to automate your tasks by using one of the dozens of scripts we provide – or easily creating your own. Finale performs your tasks with a simple mouse click. Mix several repeated actions into one. The possibilities are endless.

FinaleScript could save you hours of work. For example, let’s say you have several Finale files for voice and piano you want to use for Alto Sax. With FinaleScript you could create a script to automatically replace the staff name “Voice” with “Saxophone”, apply the appropriate Eb transposition, remove the lyrics and more.
FinaleScript also includes:
- User interface scripting: script any items in a Finale dialog box such as buttons, checkboxes, text boxes, popup menus (Mac) / dropdown lists (Windows) Emulate keystrokes and mouse clicks.
- Quick access to scripts through the FinaleScript menu and keyboard shortcuts. Combined with user interface scripting, these additions make FinaleScript 2.0 a potent replacement for third-party macro recorder programs.
- Easy to use script editor: including syntax coloring, contextual dictionary, and syntax checker.
- Organize your scripts hierarchically.

Engraver Tuplets
Take control of tuplets with Finale’s Engraver Tuplets.
Default positioning
looks great, even when the tuplet begins with rests, and tuplets
automatically reposition when notes are raised or lowered on the staff. Tuplet
brackets avoid rests and staff lines. Brackets follow the angle of the stems
when on stem side and follow the angle of notes when on the note side. Pickup measures
now include improved tuplet compatibility.
It's automatic!

More tuplet position options:
-
Center tuplet number metrically or linearly within tuplet group.
-
Bracket can extend over full duration of notes or just notes themselves.
-
Placement options for Beam/Stem side and Above/Below staff.
-
Specify flat tuplet brackets.
-
Brackets flip when dragged across staff midline.
-
Display ratio in multiple forms and ratio + note duration.
