Announcing the 2012 Finale National Composition Contest
The American Composers Forum and MakeMusic, Inc. are partnering with the acclaimed American string quartet JACK Quartet to host the 2012 Finale® National Composition Contest. The objective of the competition is to encourage creativity by student composers who are currently enrolled in graduate and undergraduate institutions in the United States. Three Finalists Selected for the 2011 Finale National Composition Contest
The 2011
Finale® National Composition Contest is a collaboration between MakeMusic, the
American Composers Forum, and Grammy-winning ensemble
eighth blackbird. On February 1, 2011 three finalists were announced. They are:
Andy Akiho (New Haven, CT),
Eric Lindsay (Bloomington, IN), and
Kurt Rohde (San Francisco, CA). In early December 2011 they’ll travel to Chicago to workshop with eighth blackbird and attend a performance of all three pieces on December 8th. Shortly thereafter the judges will select the recipient of the final prize, which includes an additional cash award and a future public performance by
eighth blackbird.
