Finale Quick Tips: Creating Coda Systems

by Justin Phillips 8. July 2010 09:35

Want to add a coda system to your score? It’s quick and easy using the Create Coda System plug-in. Here’s how:

  1. With the Selection Tool, specify the measure where you want the coda system to start.
  2. Navigate to Plug-ins Menu > Measures > Create Coda System.
  3. Indicate any desired options (you can even add a ‘To Coda’ marking in another measure) and press OK.

Finale will now create the coda system and set the document to play the coda correctly.

Hi Julian,

Yes. The only signifigant difference when using PrintMusic 2010 occurs in step 2:

2. Navigate to the UTILITIES Menu > Create Coda System.

Please let us know if you have any questions!

Hi Ramir,

What version of Finale or PrintMusic are you using?  If you select the Staff Tool, is there a blue/grey line above the coda measures?

The create coda system has one flaw: the languages are mixed. If "Da capo al coda" (italian) is used so why not also "al coda". The only option seems to be the half english-italian "to coda"..

Still having trouble with multiple repeat sections; eg. third time bars, where the second repeat should skip to the bridge, then del segno al coda which is the third repeat, always seems to play both second and third on that repeat??

Also no print preview in Print Music; which is a pain when trying to work out layout options for A4 printing, or any for that matter

Hi Julian,

Have you contacted support about your repeat issues?  I see that you have been asking about this for a while, and I have been unable to recreate any of the problems you have described.  A quick email to support should get you going on troubleshooting pretty quickly.  The link below will bring you to our support system.

As for no print preview, are you using a Mac or PC?
