Accidentals

Accidentals (such as sharps, flats, and naturals) appear automatically if you’ve entered the music from a MIDI keyboard.

To change an accidental to its enharmonic equivalent

  1. Click the Simple Entry tool  .
  2. CTRL-Click to select a note.
  3. Press the \ (backslash) key. The spelling of the selected note changes to its enharmonic equivalent.

To add a parenthesized accidental

  1. Click the Simple Entry tool  image\Speedy_Entry_Tool.gif.
  2. CTRL-Click to select a note.
  3. Press the p key. SongWriter places parentheses around the accidental. If there was no accidental, songwriter adds one.
