How to get there
Choose File > New.
What it does
The Setup Wizard will help you to setup your NotePad document with a title, which instruments you would like to have, and other musical elements.

- Title • Composer. Enter the Title and Composer for your piece here and NotePad will automatically enter them into the document for you.
- Page Size • Portrait • Landscape. Select the page size you want to use and whether the document will be portrait or landscape.
- Cancel • Next. Click Cancel to exit out of the Setup Wizard and return to NotePad with no document open. Click Next to continue on to the next dialog box in the Setup Wizard.

- Families • Parts: Add Remove. Select a certain instrumental family, and add the part selected from the Parts column. The parts that are selected will be displayed in the list on the right. Parts will be listed in score order. If you want to Remove a part from the list on the right, highlight the part and click remove.
Note. NotePad adds group brackets and barlines for instrument families automatically.
- [Arrows]. NotePad will list your parts in the order you add them. If you prefer to have the parts in your score listed in a different order, use the arrows to move the highlighted part up or down in the list on the right.
- Back • Next • Cancel. Click Back to return to the first page of the Setup Wizard. Click Next to continue to the next page of the Setup Wizard. Click Cancel to exit out of the Setup Wizard and return to NotePad with no document open.

- Select a Time Signature. Select a time signature from several common time signatures.
- Select a Key Signature. Use the scroll bar to select a key. Click the up arrow to add sharps or subtract flats; click the down arrow to add flats or subtract sharps. Use the drop down list to specify major or minor.
- Enter a number of measures in the Number of Measures text box if you would like to specify the number of measures. If you aren't sure, measures can also be added or deleted later.
- Back • Finish • Cancel. Click Back to return to the second page of the Setup Wizard. Click Finish to create the score. Click Cancel to exit out of the Setup Wizard and return to NotePad with no document open.
