Repeat barlines
Repeat barlines in NotePad are purely graphic.
- Click the Repeat tool . Double-click a measure. The Repeat Selection dialog box appears. See Repeat Selection dialog box for more a more detailed description.
- Double-click the desired repeat icon. The repeat barline now appears in your score.
- Click the Repeat tool ; then click the measure in question.
- To delete a repeat barline, click the handle and press DELETE.

You create a first ending with the Repeat tool.
- Click the Repeat tool ; then click the first ending measure. If the first ending is longer than one measure, double-click the last measure of it. The Repeat Selection dialog box appears.
- Double-click the Backward Repeat icon (the second icon).
- Click OK (or press ENTER). You’ve created the "right end" of the first ending. Now you need to create the bracket.
- Click the Smart Shape tool . The Smart Shape palette appears.
- Click the Line tool. Move the cursor close to the left barline where the first ending begins.
- Shift-double-click and drag the mouse up to create the vertical portion of the bracket.
- Release the mouse. Move the cursor slightly to the right. Shift-double-click and drag the mouse right to create the horizontal potion of the bracket.
- Use the Text tool to add the number 1 and a period, if desired. See Text blocks.
- Click the Smart Shape tool . The Smart Shape palette appears.
- Click the Line tool . Move the cursor close to the left barline where the first ending begins.
- Shift-double-click and drag the mouse up to create the vertical portion of the bracket.
- Release the mouse. Move the cursor slightly to the right. Shift-double-click and drag the mouse right to create the horizontal potion of the bracket.
- Use the Text tool to add the number 2 and a period, if desired. See Text blocks.
