Repeat barlines

Repeat barlines in NotePad are purely graphic.

To place a repeat in your score

  1. Click the Repeat tool image\Repeat_Tool.gif. Double-click a measure. The Repeat Selection dialog box appears. See Repeat Selection dialog box for more a more detailed description.
  2. Double-click the desired repeat icon. The repeat barline now appears in your score.

To delete a repeat barline

  1. Click the Repeat tool image\Repeat_Tool.gif; then click the measure in question.
  2. To delete a repeat barline, click the handle and press DELETE.

You create a first ending with the Repeat tool.

To create a first ending

  1. Click the Repeat tool image\Repeat_Tool.gif; then click the first ending measure. If the first ending is longer than one measure, double-click the last measure of it. The Repeat Selection dialog box appears.
  2. Double-click the Backward Repeat icon (the second icon).
  3. Click OK (or press ENTER). You’ve created the "right end" of the first ending. Now you need to create the bracket.
  4. Click the Smart Shape tool image\Smart_Shape_Tool.gif. The Smart Shape palette appears.
  5. Click the Line tool. Move the cursor close to the left barline where the first ending begins.
  6. Shift-double-click and drag the mouse up to create the vertical portion of the bracket.
  7. Release the mouse. Move the cursor slightly to the right. Shift-double-click and drag the mouse right to create the horizontal potion of the bracket.
  8. Use the Text tool to add the number 1 and a period, if desired. See Text blocks.

To create a second-ending bracket

  1. Click the Smart Shape tool image\Smart_Shape_Tool.gif. The Smart Shape palette appears.
  2. Click the Line tool . Move the cursor close to the left barline where the first ending begins.
  3. Shift-double-click and drag the mouse up to create the vertical portion of the bracket.
  4. Release the mouse. Move the cursor slightly to the right. Shift-double-click and drag the mouse right to create the horizontal potion of the bracket.
  5. Use the Text tool to add the number 2 and a period, if desired. See Text blocks.
