You can have up to four independent musical lines per staff. For a tutorial in handling multiple voices, see the Tutorials in the Help.
NotePad offers a Layer system, which treats each staff as four transparent layers. The Layer mechanism generates stems-up/stems-down notation.
To enter multiple voices using layers
Each staff in NotePad has four transparent layers of music. You can switch from one layer to the other using the layer popup menu. Each layer flips its stems up or down automatically, to help distinguish the multiple voices.
Choose the layer you want to edit first, using the Layer push buttons in the lower left corner of the screen.
Click the Simple Entry tool . Enter the music for the first layer in the usual way (see Simple Entry).
Select a different layer. The Simple Entry tools change color to indicate the layer. Notes will display the color associated with their layer. You can now enter and edit music in this layer.
