Double whole notes

The double whole note, or breve ( or ) has a duration of eight beats. Either notehead may also be use to represent recitative on a single pitch. Follow these instructions if you want Finale to use the symbol instead of the default notehead for the double whole note.

To substitute the notehead for the notehead globally

1. Choose Document > Document Options and select Notes and Rests. The Document Options - Notes and Rests dialog box appears.
2. From the Notehead Characters popup menu, choose Double Whole and click Select. The Symbol Selection dialog box appears, containing every symbol in the Maestro font.
3. Choose the notehead and click Select.
4. Click OK.
