To enter percussion with HyperScribe

  1. Choose MIDI/Audio > Device SetupMIDI/Internal Speaker Setup. The MIDI Setup dialog box appears.
  2. Ensure the desired MIDI Input device is chosen under the Input Device column. Click Percussion Input Maps, then choose a percussion MIDI map for input, and click OK. If you are using a sound bank included with Finale for playback, choose Match Input Map to Output Map. See Percussion Input Maps dialog box. If you do not see the desired percussion MIDI map, you can define one specifically for use with your external MIDI device. See To setup an external MIDI device for percussion input & playback.
  3. Click OK to return to the score.
  4. If you are using your external MIDI device as a controller only (and do not wish to use its sounds), choose MIDI/Audio > Device Setup and ensure MIDI Thru is checked so Finale performs the percussion sounds designated for the staff in the ScoreManager during entry.
  5. Click the HyperScribe tool  image\HyperScribe_Tool.gif.
  6. Enter the music as you would normally. See Recording with HyperScribe.
