Entering lyrics: Click Assignment

With this method, you’ll enter the complete set of lyrics beforehand in Finale’s text processor.

  1. Click the Lyrics Tool  image\Lyric_Tool.gif. The Lyrics menu appears.
  2. From the Lyrics menu, choose Click Assignment. The Lyrics window appears with your complete set of lyrics.

You can edit your lyrics just as you would text in any word processor. For example, you can correct mistakes by backspacing over them with the . You can copy and paste text as you’ve just done, using -C) to copy selected text and -V) to paste it. You can also cut selected text, so that it’s removed from the Lyrics window but placed on the Clipboard ready for pasting in another place; the Cut command is -X).

  1. Click to the left of the syllable you would like to assign. A blinking cursor appears to the left of the syllable.
  2. Click a note to enter the first syllable. The next syllable becomes highlighted in the Lyrics window, indicating the next word that will appear when you click. Option+click to enter a string of lyrics, and Finale will enter them automatically, taking into account hyphens and spaces. See To place lyrics into the score (click assignment).
